We return from break to hear Finn Balor responding to Kevin Owens, saying that he does all his talking in the ring. Then, in the same vain as Owens, we see a video package conveying the huge accomplishments of Finn Balor in his short time at NXT.

NXT Championship Match – Finn Balor vs. Kevin Owens (c)

The bell rings and Owens takes a walk, playing some mind games. The champ takes control with shoulder blocks and rest holds and yells “where’s the demon now?”, so Balor dropkicks him in the face.

After an ad break, Balor rolls through a sunset flip with a dropkick. Kevin fights back with knife-edge chops and they fight on the apron, with Balor getting dropped over the top rope. The assault continues with right hands, kicks and an elbow drop. He throws on a rest hold and after a few minutes we cut to another commercial.

We come back with Owens stomping away at the challenger. Another chin lock until the crowd tries to build momentum, and Owens throws him to the floor and continues the beatdown. He sets up for the apron powerbomb but gets flipped on his back. Balor throws right hands but is caught with a crucifix sideslam, followed by a senton splash for two.

The next segment is yet again all Kevin Owens. Lots of rest holds. At one point Owens does an Irish whip into the corner so hard you hear something in the ring shift.

After a third break, Balor begins to fight back. He breaks out of a headlock and hits a dropkick. The Slingblade connects followed by a double under-hook slam for two. The champ bails from the ring and wraps Balor’s knee around the ring post before going to work on it. They roll back into the ring and Owens locks in a half grab after beating down on the knee. Finn barely makes it to the bottom rope. He counters a powerbomb with a double foot stomp; both men down.

Challenger is up first but he gets his legs kicked out. They fight to the top turnbuckle and Balor hits an enzuigiri. He tries for a big superplex, but Owens hooks the leg and drops him with a top rope Fishermen’s buster! Holy **** chant. The champ hits a cannonball splash in the corner and continues to work over the now-obviously-injured knee. He wraps the knee around the bottom rope and does another cannonball. Owens comes up empty on a third attempt and Balor follows with a running dropkick. He heads up for the double foot stomp, connecting, but his knee is too messed up to make the cover. When he finally gets up, Owens hits him with a pop-up powerbomb for the 1-2-3.

Winner: Kevin Owens

Backstage, Finn Bálor gives A-Ry some advice heading into his bout with KO.

Kevin Owens celebrates his victory, but goes after Riley. He sets up for a powerbomb on the apron, but Finn Bálor comes out and stares him down. Balor flies off the set (not the traditional NXT set, but a 5-7 foot platform near one of the entrances) with a forearm shot.

They fight back into the ring with Finn getting a dropkick. He sets up for the double foot stomp, but Owens bails from the ring and up the ramp. We get a staredown between the two to end the show.

Finn Bálor vs. The Brian Kendrick

Kevin Owens is on the mic for this one and the two grapplers get into it right from the bell. Balor puts Kendrick on the mat and works him in the arm bar. Kendrick gets Balor into a headlock but Balor escapes. Kendrick starts to get moving but tweaks his ankle for a moment as he flips himself into the ring. It might’ve been a ruse, though, as he quickly turns the tables on Balor and takes him down. Balor isn’t having it, though, and fights back, chucking Kendrick outside.

At the announce table, Kevin Owens and Alex Riley take some verbal shots at one another before Owens storms off, saying he doesn’t want to “do something stupid.”

After a break, Balor keeps the heat on Kendrick although Kendrick makes a bold statement when he lands a tornado DDT off the top rope. Balor reels from that as Kendrick goes up top again and hits a nice dropkick. A spike suplex doesn’t put Balor down for the count, as he kicks out at two. As they get up, Kendrick goes for a finisher and Balor takes him down with a huge clothesline. The “sling blade” follows and then the coup de grace puts Kendrick away for good.

Winner: Finn Bálor

After the bell, Owens comes out and acknowledges the win. Then he strolls over to the announce table and rips A-Ry out of his seat and tosses him over the desk.

Finn Bálor is in the back with Devin Taylor. She asks him about what Kevin said. Finn says that Kevin Owens is the new champion and he probably has a high opinion of himself.

Finn says that he is the number one contender and he has a high opinion of himself and he will face Owens any time and any place. He is a prize fighter too.

Rhyno walks through the interview area and he walks away.

#1 Contender’s Match
Adrian Neville vs. Finn Bálor

Balor starts in control with dropkicks and elbow strikes, until Neville slows things down with a side headlock. Finn battles back but runs into a nice dropkick. Back to the headlock for a few minutes. Balor fights back yet again and hits a bit enzuigiri, then flies over the ropes to take both guys into the ramp. Neville takes a breather in a chair at ringside, but Finn comes out of nowhere with a dropkick sending him into the barricade.

They slowly fight back into the ring with both guys hitting dropkicks. Neville counters a lariat attempt with a huge German suplex, followed by another for two. He heads up to the top and connects with a swanton bomb off the second rope for two. Balor comes back with a slingblade, followed up with a reverse lifting DDT for two. He climbs the ropes but Adrian recovers and hits a step-up enzuigiri.

Neville sets up for the Red Arrow but settles for a kick to the side of the head. Red Arrow attempt #2, but Balor gets the knees up for two-and-a-half. Finn with a dropkick that sends him flying. He heads to the top and connects with a double foot stomp. 1-2-3.

Winner: Finn Bálor

#1 Contender NXT Championship Tournament Semi-Finals Match
Hideo Itami vs. Finn Bálor

Balor and Itami lock eyes and then they get right to it. First they lock hands, break and then come together again. When they really get grappling, it almost looks like an even match. After some twisting and grappling, they break, stand back and assess one another as the fans voice their approval. Itami tries to get on top of Finn on the mat but Balor won’t make it easy. Itami hits the ropes and Finn gets him with a solid dropkick as we go to break.

Back after the commercial, Itami is back up and he has control of Balor for the moment. Finn breaks loose and heads to the ropes but Hideo takes him down and tries for a cover. Finn gets back into it and works Hideo into an unusual stretch hold followed by a cover. Itami kicks out and Finn covers again, but no dice. Balor stays on top of things, locking in a choke on Hideo. He continues with the mat work but Itami wriggles out and ascends the ropes. Balor connects with a kick, putting Hideo on the canvas. Another break ensues.

As the match resumes, Balor is chopping the holy bejeezus out of Hideo. Itami comes back with a dropkick and then hits a clothesline. Itami goes into full offensive mode now, putting Balor’s neck into the rope and then cracking him with a kick. Itami teases the GTS and they trade counters until both guys are down on the mat. When both men reach a vertical base again, they trade huge shots. Itami finally gets the advantage with strikes and kicks, following with a corner dropkick but Balor takes him out with a sling blade and then a big dropkick. He hits a double-stomp off the top and after a three-count, it’s over.

Winner: Finn Bálor
