Joe says as he sat in the back, people asked him ‘why did you do what you did’? Joe says he did it because we are defined by two things, the choices that you make and the actions that you take. Finn Balor, you came to me to be part of the Dusty Rhodes Classic as a team and Joe says he made a choice. Joe says he put action behind it. He took Finn by the hand and put him on his back and carried him through the best that NXT had to offer. They won it all.
Joe says he stared Finn in the eye during the celebration. He told Finn to make the right choice. Give him an NXT title shot. Much to your credit, you made the right choice. You gave him the shot, but you put no action behind it. In fact, you let William Regal walk in right in front of you to allow Regal to put him in a battle royal for the shot you gave him. To be put into a battle royal, it was an insult. Joe says that the second he set foot in NXT, he was owed and he was entitled to an NXT title match.
Joe tells Finn because you did not put action behind . . .
Finn Balor’s music plays and he makes his way to the ring but the officials get between Joe and Finn.
Finn tells Joe he used to trust him.
Joe tells Finn ‘good choices’ and then he pushes a referee into Finn and Joe with a punch and then he chokes out Finn Balor.
Joe finally releases the hold and officials tell Joe to leave the ring. Joe picks up the title belt and he stands over Balor.
The debate over who would win in a fight between UFC star Conor McGregor and WWE Superstar Sheamus has been intensifying as of late — and now NXT Champion Finn Balor is throwing in his two cents, sorta.
As soon as they lock up Crews rolls up Bálor for a two count. Crews is not wasting any time tonight. Crews puts Bálor in a side headlock. Bálor fights out and drives Crews into the ropes. Bálor whips Crews into the ropes, Crews goes to the mat, kips up, hops over Bálor then does a backflip before drop kicking Bálor. Not to be outdone, Bálor immediately drops kicks Crews. Crews picks up Bálor for a delayed vertical suplex for another two count.
Crews misses a jumping elbow drop. Bálor hits a penalty kick to a seated Crews for another near fall. Bálor locks in a cobra clutch, which Crews fights out of. Crews hits the ropes and Bálor sets up for a back body drop, but Crews reverse into a sunset flip. Bálor rolls out of the flip and dropkicks Crews in the face. Bálor puts on another clutch that Crews stands up in. Crews rolls through and kicks Bálor in the face. Crews sits on the top rope, but Bálor kicks him off the top with a enziguri. Bálor dives to the outside with a tope con hilo, which takes Crews off his feet.
After a short break Bálor is chopping Crews from corner to corner. Bálor almost hits the Bloody Sunday, but Crews reverse it into a tossing Samoan drop. Crews press slams Bálor, but Bálor slips out and hits the sling blade on Crews. Crews finally hit the gorilla press, but Bálor gets his knees up. Bálor hits the Bloody Sunday, but Crews kicks out. Bálor sends Crews flying across the ring after a running drop kick. Bálor ascends the top rope, but misses the Coup De Grâce. Crews hits an enziguri, but Bálor immediately hits a Pelé kick. As both superstars are on the mat, Baron Corbin hits the ring and destroys both Crews and Bálor, causing the match to be thrown out.
Winner- No contest
After the match Samoa Joe chases off Corbin. As Bálor gets to his feet Joe clotheslines him! Joe beats down Bálor before hitting the muscle buster to close the show.
Joe and Cass lock up, then exchange shoulder blocks. Joe starts his punch combo, but Cass knocks him to the outside. Enzo and Bálor tussle in the ring. Bálor tosses Enzo into the rope but instead of bouncing off Enzo dives through and take out Joe. Not to be outdone, Bálor dives over the top rope and takes out Cass.
After a short break Enzo hit a ddt on Bálor and dives to tag in Cass. Joe tags in and hits Cass with an STO. Cass responds with a big boot for Joe and Bálor. Diving elbow drop by Cass for a two count. Boss man slam by Cass. Enzo and Cass hit their finisher on Joe, but Joe kicks out, rolls through, and hits the muscle buster on Enzo. Bálor hits the coup de grâce for the win.
This Dusty Rhodes Tag Classic match actually took place before this week’s Smackdown taping. Bálor and Cara start off. Cara goes for a quick go behind that is quickly countered by Bálor. Bálor gets dropped into an arm bar, which Bálor flips out of before locking in an arm bar of his own. Cara gets out and runs the ropes, but runs right into a high dropkick by Bálor. Kalisto runs in but gets back dropped to the outside. Bálor sends Cara out after him. Bálor dives over the top rope taking out both Cara and Kalisto.
After a short break Joe is in the ring manhandling Cara. Joe traps Cara in the corner before tagging in Bálor. Bálor hit the ropes, but gets caught in a tilt-a-whirl back breaker. Kalisto tags in with a diving splash into a pin, but Bálor kicks out. Cara monkey flips Kalisto onto Bálor, but once again Bálor kicks out. Bálor tags in Joe, who unloads on Cara. Sending him onto the turnbuckle and following that up with Joe’s signature falling enzguri. Kalisto tries to save Cara, but gets a big boot to his face for his troubles. If that wasn’t enough, Joe then crushes Kalisto with a senton. Cara takes this opportunity to dive off the second rope and send Joe crashing to the mat with a tornado ddt. Bálor breaks up the pin fall attempt. Care responds with a springboard Moonsault to Bálor. Joe grabs Cara on the top rope and attempts a muscle buster, but Cara wiggles out into a sunset flip for a two count.
Joe throws Cara into the ropes, but Cara blind tags Kalisto. Cara dives through the ropes to take out Bálor, as Kalisto sneaks up on Joe and almost pins him with a hurricanrana. Kalisto runs into a uranage suplex. Joe follows that with the muscle buster. Bálor comes off the top with the coup de gras for the win.
The new NXT Champion Finn Bálor makes his way to the ring.
Greg Hamilton is in the ring with Finn and he congratulates Finn Bálor on his victory two weeks ago when he defeated Kevin Owens. He asks Finn how does it feel now that he is back in the NXT Arena. Finn says he has been doing this for fifteen years in Europe, Mexico, and eight years in Japan. There were a lot of difficult decisions and hard choices and sacrifices made. One of those decisions was whether to come to NXT. The moment he was handed the title belt, every one of those decisions, choices, and sacrifices were worth it to be able to hold up the title.
Greg mentions the rematch against Kevin Owens at Takeover in Brooklyn and he brings up the contract signing.
Finn says that Kevin has made a huge impact. He became NXT Champion, he sidelines Sami Zayn, he sidelined Hideo Itami, he beat Neville, he beat Cesaro, he beat Rusev, and he beat John Cena. However, he did not beat Finn Bálor in Tokyo. At the Barclays Center, Finn says that he will walk in as NXT Champion and he will walk out as the champion.
We are back and William Regal is in the ring with the contract signing table. He says that NXT continues to raise the bar. On August 22nd at the Barclays Center that bar will continue its meteoric rise. The largest NXT crowd will witness the rematch .
Kevin Owens makes his way to the ring.
William brings out Finn Bálor.
William asks Finn to sign the contract, but Kevin stops him. Kevin asks how does it feel? How does it feel to be the NXT Champion? Kevin asks how does it feel to know that you are going to defend your title in the biggest main event in the history of NXT that will take place in BROOKLYN. How does it feel to know that you are going into that match as champion, but still as the underdog? All of those things you talked about earlier that Kevin did. You are right. He won that title two months after his debut. What were you doing two months after your debut? It wasn’t winning the title because that was him.
He did cripple Sami Zayn more than once. He sent Neville out of NXT. He beat Cesaro, he dropped Rusev on his head, and he did beat John Cena. That is just in his first six months. He is going to tell Finn what he is going to do in Brooklyn. He is going to show you and all of these idiots that Japan was nothing but a fluke when he becomes the first ever two time NXT Champion and take Finn Balor out for good.
Finn tells Kevin he has heard it all before and he knows that Kevin likes to talk. He will take Kevin’s words and shove them down his throat in Brooklyn.
Finn signs the contract. William gives Kevin a pen to sign the contract and Kevin signs the contract. Regal says that it is official that on August 22nd, Finn Bálor will face Kevin Owens for the NXT Championship.
Owens pushes over the table and pushes it at Bálor. Owens knocks Regal over and then he goes after Bálor. Bálor with a forearm and drop kick to Owens.

NXT Title Match: Finn Balor vs. Kevin Owens
We go to the ring and out first comes Finn Balor with his grand entrance. He’s done up as The Demon for this match. WWE NXT Champion Kevin Owens is out next.
Owens mocks a bunch of John Cena fans at ringside. We see Hideo Itami sitting in the crowd. Balor and Owens are both presented with bouquets of flowers before the match, a tradition in Japan. Owens takes his flowers and tosses them as fans boo. The ring starts filling up with streamers also.
We wait for the crew to clear the ring of streamers as Finn and Owens stare each other down. The bell rings and Balor nails a dropkick. Balor goes to the top but Owens rolls to the floor. Balor leaps to the floor and takes him out. They come back in and Owens starts striking. Owens misses a big right hand and Balor collides with him. Balor misses a dropkick and Owens goes to the floor. Balor dropkicks him through the ropes now. Balor sends Owens into the barrier and hits a big running dropkick. Finn brings it back in with chops in the corner. Owens fights back but Finn comes right back with chops. Owens catches Balor in a big slam for a 2 count. Owens mounts Balor with right hands and stomps on him. Owens with a chop in the corner. He talks some trash and keeps control as fans boo.
Owens whips Balor into the corner hard and he goes down. Owens bows to the crowd as they boo. Balor fights back with forearms but runs into a big elbow. Owens with a 2 count. Owens with a headlock now. More back and forth now. Owens ends up knocking Balor out of the air off a springboard. Balor falls to the floor and Owens follows. Owens sends Balor into the steps. Owens brings it back in for a 2 count. Owens tosses Balor back to the floor and counts along with the referee. Finn comes back in at the 8 count and Owens goes to work on him. Owens runs the ropes like he’s going to do something but just applies a headlock. Owens says he hates this stupid country and everyone in it.
More back and forth. Finn manages to dropkick Owens in the face. Finn with more offense and a 2 count. They trade shots in the middle of the ring now. Owens with a pair of shoulder tackles and the big slam, just like John Cena. Owens calls for the Five Knuckle Shuffle and hits it. Owens goes for the Attitude Adjustment but Finn counters and stomps on his chest. Finn with chops in the corners. Owens catches him for an AA again but Finn slides out. More back and forth. Finn hits a pele kick. Owens ends up back on the floor. Balor runs the ropes and dive out onto him. Finn brings it back in and goes to the top for a stomp to the back of the head. Finn hits the lifting inverted DDT for a close 2 count. Finn goes back to the top but misses the Coup de Grâce and rolls through. Owens drops Balor on his head for close 2 counts twice. Fans chant “this is awesome” as Owens gets up and waits.
Balor comes back and hits Sling Blade. Finn goes to the top but Owens cu him off. They trade shots. Owens brings Finn down to the mat with a headbutt. Balor drops Owens with a kick to the head. Finn goes back to the top and nails the Coup de Grâce but Owens kicks out at 2. Finn unloads with rights and lefts in the corner. Owens with a headbutt and another. Finn with more strikes. Finn takes Owens up top but Owens fights him off. Finn with forearms. Finn goes for a superplex but has to settle for a kick to the head instead. He climbs back up but Owens grabs him on his shoulders. Owens with the rolling senton from the top for a close 2 count. Owens goes back to the top and hits a swanton but Balor gets his knees up. Finn plants Owens for another close 2 count. Owens with a kick and a big throw onto Finn’s head for 2.
Owens waits for Finn to get up and yells at him. Owens smacks Finn around to boos. Finn slaps back. Owens goes for the pop-up powerbomb but Finn nails a big clothesline. Finn sends Owens to the corner and hits the big dropkick. Finn goes back up and hits the Coup de Grâce for the win.
Winner and New WWE NXT Champion: Finn Balor
– After the match, Balor’s music hits and he celebrates with the title as an angry Owens looks on. We see Hideo Itami looking on from the crowd. WWE Hall of Famer Tatsumi Fujinami comes out to greet Balor and he marks out. Finn offers his hand to Owens as fans chant “NXT” and Owens teases it but he walks off as fan boo. We go back to replays as Balor continues celebrating with the NXT Title.
While you might know him as Prince Devitt, “The Real Rock ‘n’ Rolla” or “The Real Shooter”, one thing’s for sure: Finn Bálor will offer the WWE Universe something they’ve never seen before. Born and raised in Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland; Finn is not your average WWE superstar as he brings the wrestling experience of a man who competed in places like Mexico, the UK and Japan. He might not be the “Prince” anymore, but that won’t stop Finn Bálor from claiming his throne in the WWE as the resident Demon King on the SmackDown brand.
