Finn Bálor vs. Tyler Breeze to determine the #1 contender for the NXT Championship

Lock-ups and exchanges early. Breeze doing his heel-ish duck-outs, but is not playing it like he’s intimidated.

Finn looks like he’s going for a dive when Tyler rolls out, but Prince Pretty charges at him. The next exchange ends when heel kicks the Irishman down to the apron. They look evenly matched, but Breeze gets the upper hand again following a neckbreaker.

Early trip to chinlock city, but TB is unable to get a pinfall. Balor eventually reverses out of a Sunset Flip with a dropkick, and another one sends the model to the floor to set-up a double stomp there. Breeze gets rolled back in, but moves before Finn can hit his finisher.

Breeze thwarts Bloody Sunday, but gets caught in a Sling Blade. Balor runs right into a Supermodel Kick that gets a nearfall. Tyler leans on the ropes, pretending to catch his breath but actually uncovering the turnbuckle. The ref moves him but doesn’t catch it. Tyler puts the boots to his opponent, but is nearly tossed into the corner. He pulls up short, and tosses the Irishman into it and hits the Beauty Shot. 1 – 2 – NO!

After complaining for a bit, Finn gets back on the offensive and Breeze goes to walk out. But Finn came from the side to lay him out, climbed the rafters above the stage and dove onto him on the ramp! He carried his opponent back to the ring, blasted him with a drop kick and hit the Coup de Grace.

Winner: Finn Bálor

MTV UK interview with Finn Bálor: ‘I’m not in any rush to leave NXT’

Finn Bálor recently spoke to MTV UK, below are some highlights from the interview. You can read the full interview here.

Getting called up to the main roster:

“A lot of people keep talking about this call up to the main roster but for most of us at NXT we all believe what we’re doing at the moment is equally as important and we’re all fully committed to that. I’m not in any rush to make a move to Raw or SmackDown. I’m very content at NXT and there’s a lot of challenges and a lot of milestones still to be achieved in NXT before I make any move. We all believe that we’re creating an alternative and we believe this is something we can sustain, grow and develop.”

The NXT brand growing:

“I want to be part of the growth of NXT. I’m one of the leaders of what we’re pushing. It definitely feels like a renaissance period for wrestling right now, there’s definitely a ‘boom’. We’re on the verge of another boom period and I want to be one of the people at the forefront of that.”

Tyler Breeze & Adam Rose vs. Hideo Itami & Finn Bálor

Itami starts by chopping Rose repeatedly before tagging in Balor, who hits a slingshot stomp. A big dropkick sets up a clothesline that sends Rose outside for a commercial break.

We come back from the break, and Balor is dropped across the ring apron. Rose and Breeze work him over pretty well, with Rose hitting a good snap suplex on Balor before tagging to Breeze. Once inside, Breeze delivers a suplex of his own for two before throwing on a chinlock.

Adam Rose is back in and lands an awesome spinebuster, then transitions into a Boston crab. Rose holds on for a four count as Breeze delivers a cheap kick.

Itami gets the hot tag and kicks everyone. Balor tags himself in and he and Itami argue. Balor hits a dropkick and goes up top, but Itami tags himself in. While they argue, Breeze rolls Itami up for the win.

Winners: Adam Rose & Tyler Breeze

After the match Breeze kicks everyone and lays them out.

WWE.com: 5 NXT Superstars we want to see on the main roster

Finn Bálor

When announcing themselves to the WWE Universe for the first time, all NXT Superstars face the uphill battle of reintroducing the reputation they built in NXT to a much wider audience.

That won’t be a problem for Finn Bálor.

Every move made by the enigmatic Irish brawler is mesmerizing. From the second the lights go down and Bálor creeps toward ringside to the moment he finishes off an opponent with a Coup de Grace, the WWE Universe won’t be able to take its collective gaze off him (and the demonic image he brings to life with his imaginative use of body paint).

Oh, and this isn’t some NXT Superstar who’s all style and no substance. Bálor already earned one NXT Championship Match, and is poised to clinch another round as the No. 1 contender if he comes up victorious at NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable.

Bálor is ready for WWE. Now it’s time to see if the WWE Universe is ready for him. — MATTHEW ARTUS
