“The Demon” Finn Bálor vs. Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt is the first man to make his way to the ring for the next match, and there are a lot of fireflies in attendance at the Barclay’s Center as Wyatt makes his way to the ring.

The lights go out, and a creepy version of ‘He’s got the whole world in his hands’ begins playing before breaking into laughter and cutting off abruptly. The Demon is shown crawling from the back, and when he stands, Balor gets a gigantic pop from the crowd. Balor is in full demon mode, and the sight of the Barclay’s Center raising their arms along with Balor is a very impressive visual.

Wyatt is slow to make his way into the ring, looking hesitant to engage the Demon. The bell rings and Balor crawls in toward Wyatt. Wyatt keeps his distance with a smile, then bows to the outside, pacing around the ring. Bray makes his way back into the ring and he hits Balor with a big right hand, but Balor just shakes it off, hitting Wyatt with a quick kick and series of strikes. Wyatt sends Balor into the corner, and Balor comes right out with a clothesline. Balor beats and kicks on Wyatt, sending him back to the outside. Balor heads out and runs around the ring, taking out Wyatt with a flying forearm to the face. Balor brings things back into the ring and he avoids a charging Wyatt in the corner. Balor snap mares Wyatt, kicks him in the spine, then hits a dropkick to the seated Wyatt. Balor immediately takes Bray back into the ring and he heads to the top, but Wyatt bails to the floor. Wyatt stuns Balor with a right hand to the face, and he suplexes Balor out to the floor to shift the momentum.

Wyatt beats on Balor, then sends him back into the ring. Bray takes Balor into the corner, and Balor tries to fight back, but Wyatt stops him with a knee to the gut before he takes him up into the corner and drives Balor’s chin into his shoulder. Wyatt goes right into a rear chin lock, grinding away on Finn. Balor is able to break out of the hold, and both men trade straikes. Wyatt sends Balor into the corner and he tries for Sister Abigail, but Balor avoids it, sends Bray to the mat, and hits a quick double stomp to Wyatt’s chest.

Balor catches a charging Wyatt with double boots in the corner before scoring with an overhead kick. Balor hits Wyatt with a couple of quick running forearms before he hits a running dropkick through the ropes and out to the floor. Balor stands on the apron and waits for Wyatt to stand, kicking him square in the face. Balor waits, then launches himself off the apron with a double stomp to the back of Wyatt’s head. Balor heads up to the top rope and he leaps over Bray. Bray tries for another Sister Abigail, but Finn counters out and hits a sling blade to put down Wyatt. Finn runs right into a big boot from Wyatt, and Wyatt follows up with a vicious urunage that’s good for a two count.

Wyatt hits the ropes and connects with a running senton for another two count. Wyatt yells out that he’s got him. Wyatt drags Balor into the corner and he pulls himself up, but Balor stops him with a kick to the side of the head. Balor takes Wyatt down with an elbow to the chest, and Bray goes back to the floor again. Balor follows and charges in with a huge dropkick to the chest that launches Wyatt into the barricade. Balor charges out of the corner into a gigantic clothesline from Wyatt that puts him down for a two count.

Wyatt spider walks toward Balor, and Balor stands up and scream, not intimidated. Balor connects with the sling blade, a dropkick, and the coup de grace, and this one is over with a three count.

Winner: Finn Bálor

After the match, Balor crawls over and stares at Wyatt before standing tall as his music hits. We get replays as Balor does his exit.

SummerSlam Preview: “The Demon” Finn Bálor vs. Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt and Finn Bálor’s intensifying conflict comes to a head this Sunday at WWE SummerSlam as The Eater of Worlds collides with his Irish adversary in Brooklyn, N.Y. in a highly anticipated rematch.

Wyatt set this rivalry ablaze when he delivered an eerie warning to Bálor on the July 17 episode of Raw. Then, a week after proclaiming his need to punish Bálor, Wyatt delivered a Sister Abigail to his embattled rival.

Despite Wyatt’s ability to get inside the head of his opponents, he has yet witness the power of Bálor’s own dark, demonic personality. The typically reserved Bálor made it clear that if Wyatt wanted to play mind games, he was ready.

The first-ever Universal Champion backed up his ominous message with his own show of force on the July 31 edition of Raw. While Wyatt was busy condemning the WWE Universe’s hero worship of Bálor, the lights went red and the sound of a heartbeat pulsed throughout the arena. Bálor appeared with his back turned to his foe before kicking him from the ring. The following week, Bálor countered Wyatt’s theatrics once again, but The Eater of Worlds had the last laugh against the indomitable Irishman when he vanished from the squared circle. When a backstage brawl moved their match up six days, Wyatt claimed the win, dousing his foe with a viscous, acidic red fluid. Bálor successfully petitioned Raw General Manager Kurt Angle to uphold the SummerSlam bout as a rematch, promising to show Wyatt the full power of his own “demons.”

With Wyatt set on proving the beloved Bálor to be nothing more than a “shell of a man that never was,” will we witness the fall of Bálor at SummerSlam? Or will The Reaper of Souls’ mind games backfire and awaken Bálor’s demonic dark side?

See which charismatic Superstar stands tall at SummerSlam when Bray Wyatt and Finn Bálor wage war inside the squared circle this Sunday at 7 ET/4 PT, streaming live on the award-winning WWE Network.

Commentary recaps the Balor/Wyatt interaction from last week and we see Finn backstage getting his jacket on and walking, he’ll be doing stuff after the break.

Back from commercial, Finn Balor makes his entrance.

Finn greets Toronto and says this is Balor Club, and Too Sweets the crowd in response to their chant of the same. He asks if everybody saw him kick Bray Wyatt’s teeth down his neck last week, and that’s hard because everybody knows Bray loves to talk. He’s gotta be honest, Wyatt gives him the creeps.

He strikes Finn as the kind of person that cares less about winning and losing and more about hurting people or having them fear him, but if there’s one thing he’s learned in life, it’s that when fear comes knocking you stand up and kick fear in the face. So, Bray, a little advice– the next time you want to come at Finn, you’d better not miss.

Whether it’s at SummerSlam or here tonight, whatever he wants to start, Balor will finish.

(Wyatt noise.)

When the lights come back up, Bray is in the middle of the ring as Finn is perched on the turnbuckles. Charging in, up and over, Finn sidesteps the charge and lands a kick to the face! Sling blade follows, Balor sizes him up…

(Wyatt noise.)

This time Finn finds himself alone in the ring as Wyatt laughs from the tron. He says he can tell why the people like Finn so much, because when he flies, they fly. But when he rips Balor from the heavens they’ll all fall down with him. Run.

We are back and Bray Wyatt makes his way to the ring.

Bray says there is no escape, not for your, not for your children, and certainly not for Finn Balor. The truth is that no mortal man can escape the darkness. Look at you, you are all held down by humanity’s shackles. You deal with the pain. Look at you, you are pitiful. You try to hide behind your sins and be something you are not. You cannot hide from him because he sees you. He is Bray Wyatt and he is everywhere. Bray says he is there when the honest man justifies stealing. He is in the shadows when you stand to claim that you are part of the Balor Club. You think you can vicariously live through Finn Balor. You are infected with the sickness of hope and the belief that your life can be special. This ordinary man, Finn Balor, who you see do extraordinary things. You foolishly rejoice when he rises through the ashes. Bray says he sees Finn for who he is. A putrid shell of a man who never was. Finn Balor exists on borrowed time of tomorrow’s dreams and yesterday’s promises. You speak with this voiceless arrogance. If he is knocked down, he gets back up. Bray starts to laugh. How did it feel when he twisted your hero’s body into a mangled heap? Did it hurt? When life knocks you down, you ain’t getting up. There is no return and there is no escape.

Wyatt goes on and drops the mic before posing. Balor’s entrance starts up as fans cheer. The lights come on and Balor is in the ring, with his arms out and his back turned to Wyatt.

Wyatt turns around and laughs as he sees Balor with his back turned. Wyatt laughs and says he likes that very much. Wyatt approaches but Balor nails him with the overhead kick. Wyatt retreats but Balor isn’t finished. Balor takes out Wyatt on the floor and dropkicks him over the barrier. Wyatt retreats again as Balor’s music hits. Balor returns to the ring and poses with the fans. We get a replay and come back to Balor’s celebration continuing.

Raw Preview: Bálor to Wyatt: “Let’s play”

As Finn Bálor prepared to finish off Elias in a No Disqualification Match this past Monday night, Bray Wyatt emerged to lay out the Irishman with Sister Abigail, helping Team Red’s loathed crooner pick up a tainted victory over WWE’s first Universal Champion.

Following the bout, Bálor told WWE.com, “If Bray Wyatt wants to play games, let’s play.”

This cryptic statement could mean many things, but if Bálor is saying what we think he’s saying, The Eater of Worlds just made a massive mistake.

Don’t miss Raw at 8/7 C on USA Network.
